A young secondary school student whose name is undisclosed has expressed her disappointment and frustration at her school teacher who doesn’t take enough time to explain some topics properly before leaving the class for another. According to her, she doesn’t have the same level of capacity to assimilate things at a fast pace, unlike her peers who can grasp immediately “ I have a teacher who seems good at teaching but my challenge with him is that he doesn’t explain things in detail. He assumes we have the same level of intelligence with him. A period is 45 minutes but he comes a bit late and rushes his teaching in order to meet up with the next class. This is a major problem that I am contending with. He doesn’t give room for a free flow of questions”. She further added, “If it continues like this, how will I be able to pass my examinations?”
Though some think that the teacher has a major role to play in the child‘s development, he needs to conform to the standard provided by policy matters. Nobody can achieve anything worthwhile in isolation. The teacher who is entrusted with the responsibility of impacting knowledge in students can achieve greater results if they (students) can also read on their own.
